Role of the Authority
The Authority’s role is to set the remuneration – salary, fees, certain allowances, superannuation - for:

Members of Parliament, including the Prime Minister and Ministers

Independent officers and boards, where the holders of the office are required to exercise a high degree of independence, for example the Commissioner of Police, the Chief Ombudsman.
The Authority also sets:

accommodation allowances and reimbursement for Members of Parliament and travel entitlements for members' families.
